French industrial production declines 0.3% in August

French industrial output dropped 0.3% in August versus the preceding month, compared with a revised 0.8% increase in July, data from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies showed.

Year over year, industrial production advanced 2.4% in August, compared with a 3.1% increase in July, the statistical agency said.

Manufacturing industry output slid 0.4% during the month after a revised 0.6% gain in July. In the three months to August, manufacturing sector output edged up 0.1%. Output was up 0.2% for overall industry during the same period.

Manufacturing output for transport equipment accelerated by 5.9% in August followed by food products and beverage.

Output declined 1.4% for machinery and equipment goods and fell 1.8% in other manufacturing with declines in pharmaceuticals, rubber and plastics products, in other nonmetallic mineral products and in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment.
