Colo. governor picks interim insurance commissioner

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has chosen Michael Conway as the state's interim insurance commissioner, effective Jan. 1, 2018.

Conway will also lead the state's Division of Insurance, which is part of the Department of Regulatory Agencies. He has been working at the insurance division since March 2016 as deputy commissioner for consumer and compliance services.

Marguerite Salazar, who became insurance commissioner in 2013, has decided to step down from the role to focus exclusively on her responsibilities as executive director of the Department of Regulatory Agencies.
