'Shameless' to end after season 11; Amazon green-lights 'Jack Reacher' series

The Program Guide highlights recent programming announcements from various networks and online video platforms in the U.S.

Traditional TV

* News comedy show "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" will return exclusively to HBO (US) on Feb. 16 for its seventh season. Hosted by comedian John Oliver, the series is also available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand and partners' streaming platforms.

* Nexstar Media Group Inc.'s WGN America (US) cable network will launch a live daily three-hour national newscast beginning this summer. Called "News Nation," the newscast will air in prime-time, telecasting breaking news and live video on stories and issues impacting regional and local communities throughout the U.S.

* All Elite Wrestling signed a new multiyear deal with TNT (US) to keep the professional wrestling show on the air through 2023, Variety reported. All Elite Wrestling will also launch a new weekly show on the cable channel along with its already-launched series "Dynamite."

* Paramount Network (US) gave a series order to drama series "Mayor of Kingstown," Deadline.com reported. The show is set in a small Michigan town where prison is the only industry remaining. The network also renewed "The Last Cowboy" for a second six-part series. "The Last Cowboy" follows participants in a competition where riders guide horses through various patterns.

* Comedy Central (US) signed a new overall deal with comedian and host Daniel Tosh and renewed his "Tosh.0" series for four more seasons, Variety reported. The renewal takes "Tosh.0" through season 16. Comedy Central will also launch a "Tosh.0" dedicated channel on Pluto TV as well as a YouTube LLC channel later this year.

"Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens"

* Comedy Central ordered a second season of "Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens" ahead of the show's series premiere on Jan. 22. Starring actress and rapper Nora "Awkwafina" Lum, the coming-of-age comedy show follows Lum's personal experiences growing up in Flushing, Queens, IndieWire reported.

* The fourth season of "One Day at a Time" will debut on Pop TV on March 24, Variety reported. The season will include 13 episodes. The new season will be the first to air after the show was canceled on Netflix Inc. The second season of "Flack" also will premiere on Pop TV on March 13. The full second season of "Flack" will be available to stream via the Pop Now app.

* Showtime (US) renewed William H. Macy-fronted drama "Shameless" for an 11th and final season. The season will premiere in the summer. The season 10 finale of "Shameless" will air Jan. 26.

* Discovery Inc. will launch its home and lifestyle channel HGTV (US) in Italy and 11 countries in central Europe this year as part of the company's expansion plans, Deadline.com reported. HGTV will roll out as a free-to-air channel in Italy on Feb. 2.

* AT&T Inc. is pulling the plug on Audience Network and is turning the network into a preview channel for Warner Media LLC upcoming streaming service HBO Max, Variety reported.

* ViacomCBS Inc. renewed its content carriage agreement with Comcast Corp. for 23 CBS (US)-owned television stations in 15 major markets across the U.S. The parties also struck a deal to offer CBS' streaming service, CBS All Access, on Xfinity X1 and Flex platforms later this year.

* Amazon.com Inc.'s Prime Video signed a multiyear, multi-territory deal with entertainment company STX Productions LLC, granting the streaming service exclusive rights to STX's movies in France, Deadline.com reported. Prime Video will also be the exclusive subscription video-on-demand platform for STX films in the U.K. and Italy, with the entertainment company's titles going live on the streaming service starting in April.

* Cincinnati Bell Inc. struck a partnership to offer YouTube's livestreaming service YouTube TV. Cincinnati Bell and its unit Hawaiian Telcom Holdco Inc. will provide YouTube TV to their fiber internet subscribers in Greater Cincinnati and Hawaii, respectively. YouTube TV users will be able to watch more than 70 networks and on-demand content.

* Netflix renewed "You" for a ten-episode third season, which will premiere in 2021, CNN reported. "You" is based on books written by Caroline Kepnes and stars Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti. The streaming service confirmed the news in a tweet.

* Amazon green-lighted a "Jack Reacher" series for its Prime video service, The Hollywood Reporter reported. The first season will reportedly be based on Lee Childs' first Jack Reacher novel, "The Killing Floor."

* Comedy Dynamics' ad-supported video-on-demand service is now available on Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.'s Samsung TV Plus. Comedy Dynamics is an independent comedy production and distribution company.
