Swire Properties Ltd. will make its entrance into Shanghai with a The Middle House boutique hotel in the city's Jing'an district, according to a report by Jing Daily.

The five-star hotel, Swire's third in the mainland after Beijing and Chengdu, is expected to open its doors later in 2017.

The hotel is located close to upscale retail developments within a historic Shanghai neighborhood, according to the June 8 report.

Based on an earlier announcement by the Hong Kong developer, the hotel is a joint development with HKR International Ltd. and will be managed by Swire Hotels.
