Coinbase opens cryptocurrency index fund to accredited US investors

Coinbase Inc. announced that its cryptocurrency index fund is now open to accredited U.S. investors wishing to invest $250,000 to $20 million.

The cryptocurrency exchange platform said it has seen "overwhelming interest from investors" since launching the fund earlier this year. However, the fund is currently only open to accredited investors.

"We're working on launching more funds which are accessible to all investors and cover a broader range of digital assets," the company said on its blog.

The fund has a 2% management fee and gives investors exposure to all assets listed on Coinbase's exchange, which now also includes ethereum classic in addition to bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ethereum and litecoin.

The fund, which is weighted by market capitalization, will be rebalanced to include more assets as they are listed by Coinbase in the future.
