Oil and gas production in Texas showed slight improvement in October after some down months, the state Railroad Commission reported Dec. 21.
Wells in the state produced 582.1 Bcf of gas in October, or 18.8 Bcf/d, on a preliminary basis. That surpassed September's preliminary average of 18.7 Bcf/d but trailed October 2015's initial report of 20.5 Bcf/d, later adjusted to 23.9 Bcf/d.
The state oil and gas regulator reported October oil production of 73.7 million barrels on a preliminary basis, or 2.4 million barrels per day, up from 2.38 MMbbl/d in September. October 2015 brought a daily average of 2.4 MMbbl/d on a preliminary basis. That total was later adjusted to 2.9 MMbbl/d.
Webb County was Texas' largest gas producer in October, with a preliminary reading of 57.8 Bcf. Tarrant County came in second, reporting 36.7 Bcf.
Midland County produced the most oil in the state in October, with a preliminary total of 5.7 MMbbl. Karnes County was in second place, with 5.3 MMbbl.
