Great Lakes Graphite Inc. expects to seek shareholder approval in a May 10 meeting for a proposed change in business.
The move is in line with its shift toward high-purity processing, marketing and sales of clean technology minerals and away from mining. The company said Feb. 28 that it will also seek approval to change its name to New Energy Metals & Minerals Inc.
Great Lakes is focused on supplying existing and emerging battery markets with innovative, high quality, value-added graphite products. The company is engaged in the exploration and development of graphite properties, but it does not have any properties in production.
In addition, it expects to divest most or all of its principal graphite asset, called the Lochaber property, to Saint Jean Carbon Inc.
