Investor James Smail disclosed ownership of 45,214 shares of Community Investors Bancorp Inc., representing a 5.685% stake in the Bucyrus, Ohio-based company, according to a Dec. 28 Schedule 13D filing.

The investor bought 14,979 shares of the company in several transactions between Nov. 21 and Dec. 21 at per-share prices ranging from $16.45 to $16.70. Smail said in the filing that he holds the bank's shares for investment purposes.

Smail is chairman and owner of J.R. Smail Inc., an oil and gas production company. He is also vice chairman of Canfield, Ohio-based Farmers National Banc Corp.
