Operations at Codelco's Andina copper mine in Chile were suspended after a worker died in an accident, Reuters reported Jan. 26, citing the miner.

The worker was performing maintenance tasks in an underground section of the mine when the incident occurred.

Despite a stoppage in mining operations, the state-owned miner noted that critical production processes are still operating, adding that a probe into the incident is underway.
