Walmex sales for November rise 7.9% YOY

Wal-Mart de México SAB de CV, the Mexico-based unit of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., said Dec. 6 that its consolidated sales for November rose 7.9% year over year to 52.99 billion Mexican pesos.

The company, known as Walmex, said total sales in Mexico grew 9% year over year during the month to 43.38 billion pesos, while its comp store sales increased 7.6% in the same period.

Walmex's total sales in Central America rose 3% to 9.61 billion Mexican pesos. The company said its sales for November rose 10.2% on a constant currency basis, while its comp store sales were up 6.9% for the month.

The company said it opened 16 new stores in Mexico and seven in Central America in November.

As of Dec. 6, US$1 was equivalent to 18.89 Mexican pesos.
