Maruzen CHI fiscal Q1 profit climbs 16.7% YOY

Maruzen CHI Holdings Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended April 30 was ¥14.03 per share, a gain of 16.7% from ¥12.02 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥1.30 billion, an increase of 16.7% from ¥1.11 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 2.7% from 2.4% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 5.2% on an annual basis to ¥48.42 billion from ¥46.01 billion, and total operating expenses rose 4.9% from the prior-year period to ¥46.32 billion from ¥44.15 billion.

Reported net income rose 8.0% year over year to ¥1.69 billion, or ¥18.29 per share, from ¥1.57 billion, or ¥16.94 per share.
