Montana health insurers seek rate hikes for 2017 individual, small group plans

Three health insurers in Montana are looking to raise ratesfor 2017 health plans in the individual and small group marketplace.

For individual plans, the proposed average rate hikes are62.1% for HCSC (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana), 22% for Montana HealthCo-op and 19.8% for PacificSource.

For small group plans, the submitted average rate increasesare 32.1% for HCSC (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana), 3% for Montana HealthCo-op and 6.5% for PacificSource.

Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance MonicaLindeen announced a public hearing will be held on the proposed rates. Thehearings will start July 26.
