French inflation accelerates in December 2019

French harmonized annual inflation accelerated to 1.6% in December 2019 from 1.2% in the prior month, according to final data from the country's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.

Harmonized consumer prices rose 0.5% month over month in December 2019, after an increase of 0.1% in November 2019.

The non-harmonized annual consumer price inflation accelerated for the second consecutive month to 1.5% in December 2019 from 1.0% in the previous month, led by a jump in energy prices, a boost in the prices of services and a lesser fall in those of manufactured items.
