Apple Inc. is set to launch its mobile payment and digital wallet service in Taiwan, Central News Agency reported Feb. 1, citing a Chinese-language statement from the technology company.
The company said Apple Pay would allow Taiwanese consumers to use their iPhones and Apple Watch devices to make payments through Touch ID authentication.
Apple did not reveal the exact date of the launch.
Seven Taiwanese banks will support the service following its launch, including Cathay United Bank Co. Ltd., CTBC Bank Co. Ltd., E.SUN Commercial Bank Ltd., Standard Chartered Bank (Taiwan) Ltd., Taipei Fubon Commercial Bank Co. Ltd., Taishin International Bank Co. Ltd. and Union Bank of Taiwan Ltd.
