K+S: Production to remain suspended at Hattorf even after repairs

K+S AG completed the repairs at the Hattorf production facility of its Werra plant in Germany, but production will remain suspended due to persistent low water levels in the Werra river.

"[O]nly operation of the Wintershall and Unterbreizbach sites and Epsom salt production at the Hattorf site are possible due to the still very limited possibilities for disposal," the company said.

A fire broke out at the Hattorf site in late November during the resumption of operations, causing damage to the process control system power supply.

According to a Dec. 21 release, the low water levels are expected to continue over the coming days.
