Mediacom inks retrans deal for 23 Nexstar stations

Nexstar Broadcasting Group Inc. and Mediacom Communications Corp. signed a year-end retransmission consent agreement.

Pursuant to the deal, Mediacom will get retransmission rights to Nexstar stations within Nexstar's national footprint. The carriage agreement covers 23 Nexstar stations, according to a Dec. 27 Multichannel News report. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Nexstar in January agreed to buy Media General Inc. in a cash-and-stock deal, with Nexstar set to acquire all outstanding shares of Media General for $10.55 per share in cash and 0.1249 of a share of Nexstar class A common stock for each Media General share. The deal is awaiting a decision from the FCC, with the National Associations of Broadcasters pushing for an approval.
