Pretium to increase gold production rate at Brucejack at US$25M cost

Pretium Resources Inc. applied to the provincial government to increase the production rate at its Brucejack gold-silver mine in British Columbia, Canada, to 3,800 tonnes per day from 2,700 tonnes per day.

The company expects the mill capacity upgrades to cost under US$25 million and is undertaking engineering for assessment.

The company filed its application to the state's ministry of energy, mines and petroleum resources and the ministry of environment and climate change strategy.

The approval process is expected to take about six to 12 months, according to the Dec. 21 release.

Pretium produced 82,203 ounces of gold and 83,233 ounces of silver during the third quarter, which included the first full quarter of production from its Brucejack mine.
