US homebuilder short interest falls 100 basis points in September 2nd half

U.S. homebuilders saw average short interest drop 100 basis points between Sept. 15 and Sept. 29 to 5.76% of outstanding shares.

William Lyon Homes saw the largest drop in short interest during the period with a 745 basis-point drop to 9.63% of shares outstanding, while Beazer Homes USA Inc. posted the greatest increase in shorts with a 74 basis-point rise to 4.01% of shares outstanding.

LGI Homes Inc. was the most shorted homebuilder despite a 271 basis-point decline, with 24.67% of shares outstanding.
