Toyota Motor Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 was ¥149.79 per share, an increase of 16.6% from ¥128.48 per share in the prior-year period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥473.46 billion, a gain of 16.2% from ¥407.40 billion in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 7.2% from 6.5% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose on an annual basis to ¥6.555 trillion from ¥6.282 trillion, and total operating expenses rose year over year to ¥5.896 trillion from ¥5.690 trillion.
Reported net income grew 23.0% from the prior-year period to ¥539.05 billion, or ¥170.54 per share, from ¥438.42 billion, or ¥138.26 per share.
As of Nov. 28, US$1 was equivalent to ¥118.68.
