First Solar to provide more than 1.7 GW of photovoltaic modules

First Solar Inc. has signed a multiyear agreement to supply more than 1.7 GW of its series 6 photovoltaic modules to renewable project developer Intersect Power Inc.

The modules will be used at five projects in Texas and California that were developed by Intersect Power and constructed by Signal Energy Constructors LLC, First Solar said in a Sept. 24 news release.

Deliveries of the modules will start in the last quarter of 2020 and continue through the end of 2021.

Intersect Power is a renewable energy project developer, largely solar projects, backed by Macquarie Infrastructure Corp. It has more than 5 GW of projects currently under development.

First Solar is working on the expansion of its manufacturing capacity for series 6 modules. The company's second facility in the U.S., representing a $1 billion investment, is expected to begin production in early 2020. The new facility, located in Perrysburg, Ohio, will boost the company's total series 6 manufacturing capacity to 5.4 GW yearly.
