StanChart to provide $20B for China's Belt & Road initiative

Standard Chartered Plc said Dec. 18 that it will facilitate financing of at least $20 billion to support China's Belt & Road initiative.

The U.K. lender's commitment will be as an intermediary and service provider across lending, financial markets, transaction banking, capital markets and project finance activities.

StanChart has been involved in more than 50 deals in 2017, worth more than $10 billion across a range of products and services, with half these partnerships in Africa, a quarter in South Asia and the remainder across the rest of the Belt & Road footprint.
