Hancock Whitney completes acquisition of MidSouth Bancorp

Gulfport, Miss.-based Hancock Whitney Corp. completed its acquisition of Lafayette, La.-based MidSouth Bancorp Inc. on Sept. 21.

Each MidSouth Bancorp common stock was converted into a right to receive 0.2952 of a Hancock Whitney common share under the terms of the deal. Hancock Whitney Bank acquired MidSouth Bank NA as part of the transaction.

MidSouth Bancorp shareholders approved the deal in a Sept. 18 special meeting. The Federal Reserve, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Mississippi Department of Banking and Consumer Finance have also given their respective regulatory approvals on the transaction.
