Inception Mining Inc. said Oct. 16 that it completed the expansion project at its Clavo Rico gold mine in Honduras, which is expected to help the company reach its production target of 10,000 ounces of recovered gold in 2018.
The expansion project was announced in May, through which the company increased the processing capacity of excavation, hauling and crushing facilities to between 500 and 700 tonnes per day and the stacking capacity of the leach pad to over 750,000 tonnes, from 400,000 tonnes.
Commissioning of newly acquired earth moving and processing equipment throughout August achieved stacking of 6,725 tonnes of ore on the leach pad at a throughput rate of over 600 tonnes per day. The upgraded mining and processing circuit was successfully operated for 11 days.
The company also made provisions to treat low-grade run-of-mine ore directly on a dedicated leach pad without further sizing, providing flexibility for the operation to maximize ore production through the process plant while taking advantage of variable annual production, including low-grade reserves, to maximize gold recovery.
