Astra International profit misses consensus by 16.2% in Q1

PT Astra International Tbk said its normalized net income for the first quarter was 88.68 rupiah per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 105.78 rupiah per share.

EPS rose 61.3% year over year from 54.99 rupiah.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 3.590 trillion rupiah, a gain of 61.3% from 2.226 trillion rupiah in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 7.4% from 5.3% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 16.5% on an annual basis to 48.780 trillion rupiah from 41.887 trillion rupiah, and total operating expenses grew 12.5% from the prior-year period to 43.240 trillion rupiah from 38.433 trillion rupiah.

Reported net income rose 63.5% on an annual basis to 5.087 trillion rupiah, or 125.65 rupiah per share, from 3.112 trillion rupiah, or 76.87 rupiah per share.

As of April 20, US$1 was equivalent to 13,318 rupiah.
