A natural gas pipeline company asked FERC to authorizeconstruction and operation of a pipeline and new compressor station that woulddeliver 133,333 Dth/d of natural gas to a proposed 980-MW power plant inLouisiana.
Gulf SouthPipeline Co. LP, a BoardwalkPipelines LP subsidiary, on July 11 filed an abbreviatedapplication for the St. Charles Parish expansion project.
The expansion project would deliver the additional capacityto the Entergy Louisiana LLC'sproposed St. Charles PowerStation, a 980-MW, gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant nearMontz, La. Gulf South and Entergy Louisiana have a precedent agreement for theproject's entire service. Entergy Louisiana is a subsidiary of
"The primary purpose of the proposed project is toprovide pressure management between Gulf South's Index 270 and Index 270-94 byadding new compression near the intersection of the two pipelines," GulfSouth wrote in the application.
Gulf South proposed to begin construction on the expansionproject in fall 2017, with an expected in-service date of Sept. 1, 2018. Tomeet its in-service date, Gulf South requested that FERC issue an authorizingcertificate by May 18, 2017.
The project is expected to cost about $29.7 million.(CP16-478)
