Discovery Inc. teamed up with the PGA Tour to create an international PGA Tour-branded over-the-top video-streaming service.
Discovery expects to invest more than $2 billion over the course of the 12-year partnership, including licensing of the PGA Tour's international media rights and building a global OTT platform available outside the U.S., according to a June 4 news release.
The agreement, which will kick off in 2019 and run through 2030, will include global multiplatform live rights outside the U.S. to all PGA Tour media properties, totaling nearly 2,000 hours of content per year.
The business will be led by Discovery's Alex Kaplan, who previously served as executive vice president of commercial for Eurosport Digital. The full management team will be announced later.
