AT&T Inc.and its unit DIRECTV rejected TimeWarner Cable Inc.'s six-year deal to carry regional sports network SportsNet LA (US) in the California market, Multichannel News reported March 30, citingan emailed statement by a Time Warner Cable representative.
Under the deal, Time Warner Cable offered a 30% discount on theRSN for the first year, and for the next five years it would offer the network ata rate equal to what the company pays to carry AT&T's ROOT SPORTS Northwest (US) RSN.
Time Warner Cable does not expect a deal to be reached in timefor the first pitch of the 2016 season on April 4, according to the report
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Cox Communications Inc. said in an emailed statement thatthe company is seeking a flexible, long-term carriage agreement that does not unnecessarilyburden its entire customer base.
