Union Gas holds open season for 3 gas pipeline routes

Union Gas Ltd. commenced an open season for commitments of up to 700,000 gigajoules per day of firm gas transportation capacity along three paths connecting Canadian and U.S. markets.

The open season is scheduled to close Feb. 2, 2017.

The offered transportation contracts on the Dawn-to-Parkway, Dawn-to-Kirkwall and Kirkwall-to-Parkway paths would begin in 2019 or 2020. They would provide access to the Dawn Hub and Appalachian supply at the Dawn, Niagara and Chippawa supply points, according to a Dec. 15 news release from Union Gas.

The supply points are accessible to customers in eastern Canada and the U.S. Northeast through Union Gas transportation services, which can connect to downstream pipeline capacity on TransCanada Corp. and other interconnecting systems in the U.S., the Spectra Energy Corp subsidiary said. From the Dawn Hub, natural gas would be carried through Union Gas' Dawn Parkway transmission system to the Greater Toronto Area and to downstream pipelines.
