NHL Seattle to anchor Simon Property's revamped Northgate community

NHL Seattle plans to build the team's corporate headquarters and training center at regional mall real estate investment trust Simon Property Group Inc.'s Northgate property in Seattle.

The proposed practice/training center will consist of three full NHL-size ice sheets. The planned NHL Seattle Ice Centre will become an anchor tenant as part of Simon Property's redevelopment efforts at Northgate. The first phase of the NHL Seattle development will total more than 180,000 square feet.

The REIT, which aims to change Northgate from a traditional regional shopping mall into a mixed-use center, plans approximately 800,000 square feet of class A office space and up to 1,200 residential units and hospitality uses. The company also intends to develop more than 500,000 square feet of retail and commercial uses.
