Ark Mines Ltd. on Dec. 22 said it has started definition and mine design drilling at its Mount Porter South gold project in Australia's Northern Territory.
The drilling will comprise 84 shallow infill holes to fully define the extent of the Mount Porter South ore body. The company will also drill two water monitoring bores.
The program will facilitate the pit design to the base of the oxidation, sampling for metallurgy and waste management, conducting a ground water study and preparing a mine management plan.
The ASX-listed company plans to start mining oxide ore directly from the Mount Porter South project early in 2017, after mining the Mount Porter Central oxide at the end of 2016/2017 wet season.
In November, the company executed a new one-year tolling agreement with a Newmarket Gold Inc. unit.
