The U.S. Department of Energy announced up to $26 million in federal funding aimed at advancing transformational carbon capture technologies.
According to an Oct. 17 release, up to 14 projects will be selected under the Office of Fossil Energy's Novel and Enabling Carbon Capture Transformational Technologies funding opportunity announcement.
The DOE seeks projects that demonstrate the potential to provide step-change reductions in both cost and energy penalties associated with implementing carbon capture and enabling technologies for the coal and natural gas power generation sector.
Selected projects will be managed by the National Energy Technology Laboratory, the DOE said.
