Seven & i Holdings Co. Ltd. reported Dec. 15 that its Seven-Eleven Japan unit's store sales in November gained 3.1% year over year.
Same-store sales slipped 0.1% year over year, and the number of customers decreased by 0.2%. However, average spending per customer rose 0.1%.
The number of Seven-Eleven Japan convenience stores increased to 19,970, from 19,887 in October.
The company's overseas business, 7-Eleven Inc., saw net sales grow 10.2% year over year with 21% growth in gasoline and 2% in merchandise. U.S. same-store sales rose 1.2%.
Ito-Yokado, Seven & i's general merchandise chain, reported 0.7% growth in net sales year over year in November. At existing stores, merchandise sales fell 0.7% and the number of customers dipped 0.4%. Average spending per customer dropped 0.3%.
The company's York-Benimaru brand reported a 2% year-over-year rise in sales, although existing store sales retreated 1.1%. Customers numbers fell 0.1%, and average spending per customer fell 1.1%.
Sogo & Seibu department store chain reported a decline of 11.7% in total store sales year over year, but existing store sales climbed 3.9%.
Seven & i's restaurant division, Seven & i food systems, posted a 2.3% year-over-year growth in sales. Existing store sales accelerated 3.8%. Customers numbers at existing stores rose 1.4%, and average spending per customer at existing stores grew 2.4%.
