Report: BBC Studios chief reveals commercial thrust, restructure

BBC Studios head Mark Linsey is bringing in genre chiefs whoare expected to contribute commercial, rather than creative expertise to theBritishpublic broadcaster, Broadcast reportedMay 5.

Linsey also reportedly axed the digital chief post and willreplace job titles of senior managers to directors of department from heads ofdepartment.

The job vacancies are currently advertised internally, and willbe revealed publicly in case suitable candidates are not found among staffmembers.

Creative heads ranked below the board members, which includehead of documentaries Aysha Rafaele, creative director Sam Anstiss and head ofscience Andrew Cohen, will oversee creative matters but "within thecontext of strong business and operational support," according to thereport.

COO Anna Mallett will also reportedly join Linsey's board,the only one left from the previous management under Peter Salmon's helm.

The BritishBroadcasting Corp. unit was hit with a string of recent departures,as "Top Gear" showrunner Katie Taylor, factual chief NatalieHumphreys and scripted chief Mark Freeland all left the company reportedly dueto disagreements with Linsey's vision.

Linsey appointed executive producer Claire Prizey to fill upTaylor's vacated role.
