Report: Amazon Studios ends Weinstein project

Amazon.com Inc.'s Amazon Studios backed out of an untitled project that it was developing with The Weinstein Co. as sexual assault allegations against movie producer Harvey Weinstein persist, the Los Angeles Times reported Oct. 13.

The director David O. Russell and actors Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore, who were attached to the project, released a statement in support of the move.

Another new series titled "The Romanoffs," however, will continue to be produced without the involvement of The Weinstein Co., which was initially a co-producer, a source reportedly said. The series is the newest project from Matt Weiner.

The news follows the suspension of Roy Price, head of Amazon Studios, over alleged mismanagement and sexual harassment allegations.
