Australian developer acquires majority interest in Calif. solar portfolio

New South Wales-headquartered New Energy Solar has acquired a substantial majority interest in a 134.8-MW portfolio of two solar facilities in Kern County, Calif. for an undisclosed sum.

SunPower Corp., which developed the 67.4-MW Stanford Solar generating station and the 67.4-MW TID Solar plant, will retain an ownership interest in the projects and provide ongoing operation and maintenance services, according to a Dec. 11 release.

The projects provide electricity and renewable energy credits to Stanford University and Turlock Irrigation District under two similar long-term power agreements.
