Nuclear update: Total US output holds above 99%

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability was pegged at 99.24% early Dec. 29, down a bit from 99.26% on Dec. 28 but well above the 95.76% rating recorded on the same day in 2016.

Total production was pulled lower by a curtailment at Duke Energy Corp.'s Brunswick 2 in North Carolina, which was at 67% power early Dec. 30, down from full capacity the day prior.

Helping to offset the lost output, Entergy Corp.'s Grand Gulf plant in Mississippi was reported at 77% as of early Dec. 30, up from 55% on Dec. 29.
