ProSiebenSat.1, Discovery debut new streaming service in Germany

ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE and Discovery Communications Inc. teamed up to launch a premium entertainment streaming service in Germany.

At launch, the service will feature ProSieben (DE), Sat.1 (DE), kabel eins (DE), Sixx (DE), ProSieben MAXX (DE), Sat.1 Gold (DE) and kabel eins Doku, and Discovery's free to air channels DMAX (DE) and TLC, with more content to be added later, the companies said Oct. 16. The service will also feature a range of original and premium TV shows free of charge, live and through catch-up.

The AVOD service is available on the existing ProSiebenSat.1 7TV brand digital platform and app. Also, 7TV will launch a Eurosport Zone where viewers will be able to watch selected sports highlights and clips.

Further, the company is looking for a new CEO for the streaming service. SevenOne Media, media sales house of ProSiebenSat.1, will oversee the digital advertising inventory for the joint venture.
