Molina Healthcare Inc. is planning to close the Midwest Health Center P.C. in Dearborn, Mich., as part of a national pullout from primary care, Crain's Detroit Business reported.
Crain's cited an Aug. 1 internal letter signed by Carrie Harris-Muller, a senior vice president at Molina in Long Beach, Calif., where the company is based. The letter said Molina's Dearborn operations and facilities are slated to shut down entirely and employment terminations will start Oct. 1.
In a statement to Crain's, Molina confirmed the closure of the clinic, which is effective Sept. 30. The company declined to comment on other closing plans.
"We regret the impact this will have on affected employees and we will be providing outplacement assistance and severance to ease the transition," Molina told Crain's. "We are working with network providers to ensure that our patients continue to receive the care they need and deserve through our trusted partners."
On July 24, the company said it is planning to eliminate about 1,400 positions over the next several months.
