Tenaska starts building wind farms in Missouri, Minnesota

Tenaska Inc. has started construction of its 242-MW Tenaska Clear Creek Energy Center wind farm in Nodaway County, Mo.

The company selected Vestas Wind Systems A/S to supply turbines for the project and Mortenson to provide engineering, procurement and construction services, according to a Sept. 11 news release.

The plant will supply renewable power to Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. upon its completion by the end of 2019. Springfield, Mo.-headquartered Associated Electric Cooperative provides wholesale power to six regional cooperatives and 51 local cooperative systems in Missouri, southeast Iowa and northeast Oklahoma.

Earlier in August, Tenaska also began building its 250-MW Nobles 2 Power Partners Wind Farm in southwest Minnesota. The wind farm is anticipated to be operational by the end of 2020.
