Spenta International fiscal Q1 profit climbs YOY

Spenta International Ltd said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 amounted to 2.61 Indian rupees per share, an increase from 1.06 rupees per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 7.2 million rupees, a gain from 3.3 million rupees in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 7.1% from 4.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 23.4% on an annual basis to 101.8 million rupees from 82.5 million rupees, and total operating expenses increased 16.7% year over year to 89.3 million rupees from 76.5 million rupees.

Reported net income rose on an annual basis to 9.3 million rupees, or 3.38 rupees per share, from 4.5 million rupees, or 1.45 rupees per share.

As of Sept. 3, US$1 was equivalent to 66.10 Indian rupees.
