Another Acacia Mining employee arrested in Tanzania

Acacia Mining PLC noted Tanzanian media reports that a current and a former employee were arrested by the country's Prevention and Combating of Crime Bureau as part of an "ongoing investigation into natural resources exploitation."

The bureau reportedly told media that it made the arrests as part of the "war that the government is waging in the minerals sector" and that the two people had "occasioned the government losses."

Additionally, the company said that in connection to its 19-month dispute with the Tanzanian government, it started international arbitration regarding its Bulyanhulu and Buzwagi projects, in which the government has been fully participating.

The company said Oct. 17 that its operations at North Mara, Bulyanhulu and Buzwagi currently remain unaffected.

Earlier this month, one of the company's employees was charged by the Tanzanian Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau. The employee pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.
