Peru's rural savings bank Caja Rural de Ahorro y Crédito CAT Perú SA said it received approval from the country's financial superintendent to remove the "CAT Perú" abbreviation from its official name, according to a May 16 regulatory filing.
The move follows Scotiabank Perú SAA's acquisition of a 51% controlling stake in the Lima-based bank, formerly known as Banco Cencosud, which the Peruvian subsidiary of Canada-based Bank of Nova Scotia completed on March 1. At the time, Banco Cencosud had obtained authorization to convert into a rural savings bank.
