United Bankshares Inc. completed its public offering of 4,330,000 of its common shares, par value $2.50 per share.

The Charleston, W.Va.-based company intends to channel net proceeds to provide capital support for its growth and for other general corporate purposes.

JP Morgan Securities LLC acted as sole book-running manager for the offering.
