Macquarie Capital acquires solar portfolio in Asia

Macquarie Capital's global green investment platform, Green Investment Group Inc., has acquired a sizable solar development portfolio from Conergy AG in the Asia Pacific region.

The acquisition, Green Investment Group's first in Asia, includes solar development assets in the Asia Pacific region; commercial, technical and energy storage capabilities; an asset monitoring center; and 88 employees in multiple locations with extensive experience in developing more than 500 MW of solar energy projects across the Asia Pacific and 2,000 MW globally. Conergy is a downstream solar developer headquartered in Germany.

Since 2010, the combined Macquarie and Green Investment Group businesses have invested or arranged more than £15 billion in more than 200 projects across 20 countries. Macquarie Group Ltd. acquired Green Investment Group, formerly the U.K. Green Investment Bank and now referred to as GIG, from the U.K. government last year and in June announced plans to invest in North America.
