Mitsubishi to acquire 80-MW Texas wind farm

A subsidiary of Blue Marlin Energy Holdings LLC is planning to sell its entire equity stake in the 80-MW Llano Estacado Wind Ranch in Carson County, Texas to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America Inc. for undisclosed terms.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. Blue Marlin is an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Olympus Power LLC, a privately owned independent power company.

According to a July 26 application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the proposed deal will not affect rates for wholesale power sales. The facility's power contract with Xcel Energy Inc. unit Southwestern Public Service Co. expired on Dec. 31, 2016, and all wholesale sales of electric energy by the facility will be at market-based rates.

The commission is asked to clear the deal by Sept. 10. (FERC docket EC18-128)
