Report: Spain high court to probe Banco Popular management

Spain's high court will investigate Banco Popular Español SA's management and its auditor with regards to the bank's collapse in June, Expansión reported Oct. 4, citing legal sources.

The report said the court had admitted complaints against the bank related to its €2.51 billion capital increase in 2016 and against the bank's management for corporate crime, improper management, misappropriation and falsifying documents. It is also investigating the bank's auditor, PwC.

Banco Popular has been the object of many lawsuits since its collapse and firesale to Banco Santander SA on June 7 for a symbolic €1.
