Trevali Mining Corp. said Oct. 16 that it produced 58.4 million payable pounds of zinc, 12.5 million payable pounds of lead and 433,442 payable ounces of silver in the third quarter.
The figures, all record highs, reflected year-over-year increases from 13.7 million payable pounds of zinc, 6.4 million payable pounds of lead and 221,324 payable ounces of silver in the year-ago period.
The company said the increase was due to increased mine and mill output of 23% and 7%, respectively, at the Santander mine in Peru.
Trevali's third-quarter production also included the September output from the Perkoa mine in Burkina Faso and the Rosh Pinah mine in Namibia, both acquired from Glencore Plc in August. Perkoa reported a record mill throughput and mine output, while Rosh Pinah saw its mine, mill and zinc recoveries increase on a quarterly basis.
In the third quarter, Trevali mined a total of 552,385 tonnes and milled 567,552 tonnes, from 175,579 tonnes mined and 209,188 tonnes milled in the same period last year.
For the first nine months of the year, production was at 120.3 million payable pounds of zinc, 32.4 million payable pounds of lead and 1.2 million payable ounces of silver.
