Netflix orders 1st Spanish series

Netflix Inc.said March 31 that it ordered its first original drama series filmed entirelyin Spain, which will debut exclusively on the streamingplatform worldwide in 2017.

The yet-to-be-titled series will focus on the story of fourSpanish women from different backgrounds who were hired as switchboardoperators for the country's lone telephone company in the 1920s.

The series is produced by Madrid-based Bambú Produccionesand co-created by Gema Neira. Its first season, which will have 16 episodes,will start production in Madrid in the latter part of 2016.
