Arlington Asset Investment files shelf registration statement

Arlington Asset Investment Corp. filed a registration statement related to the sale of certain securities from time to time for a proposed maximum aggregate offering price of $750 million.

The filing covers class A common stock, preferred stock, preferred stock purchase rights, depositary shares, debt securities, warrants, purchase contracts, units and subscription rights. Arlington Asset Investment plans to use the net proceeds from the sale to acquire agency mortgage-backed securities, private-label mortgage-backed securities or other types of assets. It may also use the proceeds for general corporate purposes including repayment of debt, acquisitions, working capital and liquidity needs.

Pending the application of the net proceeds, Arlington Asset Investment may invest them in short-term marketable securities or use them to reduce short-term debt.
