Checkpoint taps KBW vet as CEO

Keefe Bruyette & Woods Inc. veteran William Weber has joined Checkpoint Capital LLC as CEO.

Weber, who spent about 10 years at KBW and was co-head of the financial strategies group, was most recently with Brean Capital LLC.

Checkpoint, established about seven months ago, provides fixed-income services to community banks and credit unions. Some of the company's offerings include helping clients execute trades for portfolio managers, providing bond accounting and assisting with asset and liability management.

Checkpoint was founded by Jon Virostek, who was previously with Brean Capital, Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. and Stifel Financial Corp.

Before Brean, Weber was with Drexel Hamilton LLC and Guggenheim Securities LLC. Earlier in his career, Weber was a senior resolutions specialist with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
